One thing I’ve really gotten into over the last nine months of being home so much is watching YouTube videos. I mean, I was already kind of a YouTube addict before everything started, but now it’s on another level. While aimlessly scrolling (as one does), I stumbled across a few videos talking about Christmas Eve boxes for kids. I hadn’t heard of them before, so I’m guessing it’s a fairly new trend, but as soon as I saw the idea, I knew it was the cutest thing ever and the perfect new tradition to start with my family.
If you’re not familiar, a Christmas Eve box is basically a little box filled with things you and your family can enjoy the night before Christmas. You can keep it simple or go all out. Some people do one big box for everyone, while others make individual ones for each family member. I’ll be doing separate boxes for us, but each one will still include a few things we can enjoy together.
Now, because I like to make things a little extra, I’m not just handing Kaylin her box. I’m including a letter from Santa’s elves letting her know they dropped it off as a reward for making the nice list three years in a row. Yes, I know, it’s over the top, but she’s going to love it. Plus, she’ll be on her absolute best behavior all day, which means by bedtime I’ll probably only need one glass of wine instead of two.
I found her Christmas Eve box at Michaels, and below I put together a few fun ideas for what to include in a kids’ box and some for adults too, because let’s be real, we deserve a little Christmas Eve magic as well.

I hope this inspires you to start a new Christmas Eve tradition with your family too.
